What an amazing summer this has been. We’ve been at home, raising a litter of kittens in our polytunnel and collecting eggs from our hens. And at the same time we have been able to reach out into the world and continue helping Exonerees.
Even though we have stayed at home as much as possible due to a still-uncertain pandemic climate, we’ve been able to do so much outreach – participating in online forums, meeting with Exonerees through programs like Sundays With Sunny, and working individually with Exonerees in need of immediate assistance.

During the pandemic, we increased our remote outreach efforts so that we could continue helping Exonerees. We developed new contacts with people who have the means and the skills to assist Exonerees in many areas – including counseling, medical care, social services and housing. We always knew that there was tremendous need in the Exoneree community for so many things, from basic necessities like food and shelter, to the tools needed to build a new life. But the need is so much greater now than ever before. The pandemic left many Exonerees in a precarious position, both financially and emotionally.
Your help has been the key to helping those exonerated of crimes they didn’t commit to truly be free. We’ve been able to do so much, but there is so much left to be done.

Our community of supporters keeps us going. You inspire us! Your donations help us to continue serving Exonerees and to maintain The Sunny Healing Center in Ireland and The Sunny Living Center in Tampa, Florida, where many Exonerees find a peaceful, supportive environment to heal emotionally and physically before moving forward with their lives.
Please donate to The Sunny Center again – you can donate money, air miles, or services for Exonerees. Go here to contact us and learn more, or donate directly via PayPal. And continue reading below for ways to help Exonerees directly!
Donate Services

In the past year, generous supporters have helped Exonerees around the country with tremendous needs – such as mechanic services to get their car running again so they can go to work; a hospital bed for an Exoneree recovering from surgery; counseling and therapy services; legal advice on matters like divorce and traffic tickets; and housing and food assistance.
No matter where you are located in the U.S. or even around the world, you may be able to help make a positive difference in an Exoneree’s life. Contact us today and tell us the skills and services you can offer.

Sundays With Sunny

New Group Meeting Forming
In our next newsletter, we hope to be announcing the launch of this new program for anyone and everyone whose life has been impacted by wrongful convictions!
We are developing an open meeting for Exonerees and anyone whose life has been impacted by a wrongful conviction: family members, friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, even the lawyers who defended Exonerees – so we can begin to share each other’s stories and concerns, successes and failures.
Through this new program we can help each other begin to understand each other’s needs, work to become more harmonious, and develop better relationships. One of the biggest hardships when an Exoneree is released is their relationship with loved ones, because they can’t understand each other.
We will have Exoneree mentors – those who have been through it – to mentor those who are just starting to go through the process of rejoining society and healing. This creates a safe space to do that.
Contact us if you’re interested in participating!
Sundays With Sunny
Women Exonerees are welcome to join SUNDAYS WITH SUNNY, a group online chat where we can share and learn and grow together, and just be there to support one another.
Outreach
And all Exonerees, please visit our Outreach page and contact us if you need help in any way. We will respond to you. Even if you just need someone to talk to!
Let’s Hang In There Together
We’ve been going through a global crisis together for more than 18 months now. It’s hard to believe – and yet here we are, supporting each other and taking care of each other. This pandemic will not last forever. The Sunny Healing Center will open to Exonerees and select volunteers again, so we can continue the one-on-one healing mission that we started just a few years ago. Your support has been so essential to keeping us going and helping Exonerees. You’ve been with us through it all, and we are so grateful!

Peace and Love,
Sunny and Peter
