For so many of us, building a positive self-image can be difficult , especially after the trauma of wrongful conviction and incarceration. But we are all beautiful, no matter what we look like on the outside. In this week’s video, I go over the tools you can use to learn to accept the beautiful person that you are.

It doesn’t matter what shape you are or what size you are. It matters how you feel inside. You are who you are. That’s you. The beauty comes from the energy that you radiate from within.
This involves a certain amount of acceptance. We have to work at that sometimes. Yoga, meditation and prayer are tools you can use to do the work. Forgiveness and gratitude are tools to use, too.
Often these days, Peter and I are so outwardly focused and busy with our work, maintaining the Sunny Healing Center and working with Exonerees around the world remotely. We have to remember to do things that bring us back inside ourselves: to explore creativity, to practice yoga, to just sit quietly together with Barney, Millie and Bogey curled up next to us and look out at the wild Connemara landscape.
The world outside is beautiful. But we are part of that world and are beautiful. Going inside ourselves we can find that beauty and bring it out.
That’s what we try to share with Exonerees who are going through this incredible experience of coming out of a dark place and into the light. That they are deserving of beauty and happiness. They can take their place in the world and exchange pain for beauty and happiness and peace.
